Namaste All,

After much searching, I finally found an on-line version of Durga Prasad's translation of the Satyarth Prakash from 1908. It is somewhat different than the other on-line versions, and has a much larger introduction. It might be useful for making comparisons during your studies. The link is below:

Namaste Bhaiya,

Thank you very much for bringing this online resource to our attention. This version, unlike the other versions, goes indepth into many of the subject matters that are often given little or no attention by the Purohits and promoters of the Arya Samaj and Vaidik Dharm of today.

If anyone would like to access the PDF version, you can do so by clicking here.

Namaste,
Devendra.

This translation served immensely in old days, however the version placed on web is not easy to read. Pages are yellowish. In fact, English translation of Satyarth Prakash done by Pt. Ganga Prasad Upadhyay is very good. Its careful publication (with addition of Sanskrit texts in Devnagri script) or one more – fresh translation in the latest form of English is required. Dr. Tulsiram (a few books translated by him are already published by Paropkarini Sabha) or any other competent failthful translator can do this great job. Swami Jagadishwaranandaji or Sri Prabhakardevji of Hindon City could be contacted for its publication.

I open the pages and i was so stunned when i saw a real picture of swamiji. The ones in the mandir have nothing in common. I dont agree with it.

In the latest issue of Hindi Monthly "Paropkari", the Editor has mentioned that the Paropkarini Sabha - Ajmer (Rajasthan) has decided to prepare Swami Dayananda's pictures based on the actual photographs / pictures available from the old sources. It is also mentioned in the same issue that now a days we see Dayananda's pictures very odd and least matching with his actual body figure. The proposed project of the Sabha is expected to be completed by next Diwali in Nov-2007 and new pictures would be made available on the occasion of Rishi Mela (fair) held every year there at Ajmer. Many persons who had good fortune to see & meet Dayananda have said / written that no picture is able to show radiance of his face and light of his eyes. He had a very attractive and striking personality indeed.

Its a painter's impression of swamiji whics looks like a dhol. The painted portrait and swamiji's real picture got nothing in common. Dont u think the real picture should be there instead.
