Hi

Can any knowledgeable person help with this question. How does one do a daily havan ?

I cant find an answer !. How Can I do a daily haan, that is comprehensive and does not take more that 10 mins. Possibly with Agarbati instead of fire due to where I live ? If this is possible ?

I would like to know what mantras and how to do it. For health, humanitiy, family stability and wealth ?

Thank you

Namaste Bodka,
The info you need has been posted by Shishya Ji in the Agnihotra sub-forum.
http://aryasamaj.forumwise.com/aryasamaj-thread172.html

The havan is part of five Mahayagnas prescribed by Swami Dayanand as daily duties for all householders ( grihasthas ) . The agnihotra is a ritual for purifying the elements of nature ( air, water, earth ) while additionally the family/ community as a whole can get together and worship the One Supreme Being , and pray for material and spiritual well-being of one and all.

When I was a kid I used to get tired of it and would rush through the mantras running ahead of the others and try to get to the end of it quickly. That way it can be done in the ten mins deadline you set up. Like the pauranik brahmin priests who can mumble their way through any ritual at supersonic speed because they have to get to another yajmaan and another puja and earna nother dakshina.. But that defeats the whole purpose of the ritual. It becomes meaningless and just a show of being outwardly religious to show to the world. It will not be for your Self.

I dont know how , but when the importance and the beauty of the yagnas is realized, the time to perform them is created by itself. Better not to do it than substituting something halfheartedly . Using agarbathis maybe symbolically satisfying to a person but it will not give the same results as the yagna. And once you get efficient at doing yagna it doesnt seem complicated at all. Thats another myth that you need a priest to do it. Every individual can and should learn to do it by himself/herself. Kids seem to pick it up easiest of all.

And As for doing the Yagna in western countries please refer to the following thread with useful information -

Namaste Bodka,

Let me, first of all, welcome you to the Arya Samaj Forum. I invite you to tell us about yourself, in your personal thread which can be accessed by clicking here.

Depending on where we live, we may be unable to ignite and maintain a fire for whatever reason(s) it may be. In that case, you may want to use a Diya(Deepak) 1/4 - 1/2 filled with cow's ghee and a wick, instead of the regular havan materials.

The havan procedures remains the same, as provided by Mitra Ji. You may use ghee alone to make offerings in very small proportions into the 1/4 - 1/2 filled Diya.

If you have any other questions, please feel free to ask.

Namaste,
Devo.

Namaste Bodka,
I spoke with some other people and they say the daily yagna they do can be done in 10-15 mins thats how long it takes to recite the dainik yagna mantras-the shorter version for morn and eve yagnas.
