I have two points of doubt:

(i) Sun is a dravya = substance, and light and heat are its natural gunas = attributes. It is said that there exists samavaya sambandha between dravya and its natural attributes. They can never be separated. Sun is ekdeshi = having limited space. Can we then say that during day time (when we get light and heat) the Sun is present not only in sky but it is available (present) even on earth ?

(ii) In Upanishads we read that Brahman said - "Let I be many". This is frequently quoted by Adwaitvadins. What is its correct meaning?

Can anybody throw some light on these two points?

As per Vaisheshika darshana, dravyas are nine in numbers. Prithwi (Solids), Apah(Liquids), Teja (Luminous matter), Vayu(Gaseous) and Akasha, Time, Space, Soul (Atma and Paramatma)

Sun is not one amoung those. It may be a combination of Teja Anus and other anus. It does not qualify only as Teja. Presense of light and heat conveys that sun is formed out of Teja Anus. Chapter 3 of LIGHT OF TRUTH may be a reference for this.

The Sankhya darshana says that the five subtle entities are created from the combinations of Satwa, Raja and Tamo gunas of Prakruthi(primoidal matter). I think these are the same entities mentioned in Vaisheshika Darshana. All the other creation in the universe are the creation using these subtle entities. Sun is also one of the grosser creation created from these subtle entities by God.

However, your statement can be true that, during day time (when we get light and heat) the Sun is present not only in sky but it is available (present) even on earth. To be more specific, Sun is a very powerful creation.

It is an interesting question. I think we have to look into Sankhya Darshana.
From Prakruthi, emanated the principle of wisdom (mahsttatwa).
From the latter, the principle of Individuality (Ahamkar) was created
From Later emanated five subtle entities, prinicples of sensation, action, etc....

Initially prakruthi was one or only one. Then during each creation mahattatwa and induviduality etc. are created. These are created by Paramtma using the prakruthi. There was no individuality earlier(during dissolution/pralaya). God created different induvidualities, from one induviduality(prakruthi in pralaya/dissolution). This may be the sense.

The only thing to note is that, it is only because of ignorance, that we atmas attach ourselves with our mind, body, sense, actions etc. When one becomes a realised soul, he experiences himself as the owner of mind, body, senses, actions etc. He no more attached to the ego/individual nature of creation.

I have read from an Aryasamaj literature that, when one stops going after external things(through mind and other sense indriyas), and mind becomes nir vishaya (no external subjects/objects), and starts the seventh stage of yoga (dhyana), the individuality and attachment vanishes, the golden wall between atma and paramatma vanishes, and atma enjoys the ananda of being fully with the paramatma.

Let us consider our mind. Who is the creator of our mind. We are the efficient cause. Our actions creates it. The material cause is the prakruthi. The creator is God himself. We did not create our own mind. When God creates different minds, bodies, indriyas, anus, etc, it is quite okay to think that the God has become many. He simultaneously created different induvidualities. He simultaneously become different creators for creating different induvidualities. Therefore he simultaneously expressed in different induvidulaities. Or God become many to simultaneously create many/different individualities. It is simultaneous. Therefore i think is is proper to say God has become many, in the sense of individual creations.

I think this is what is meant by, Let I be many.

Namaste
